
1. PURPOSE OF TRAINING :-
To prepare Nurses to practice comprehensive nursing care in hospital as well as in the community by means of a planned education programme.
2. GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE :-
To enable Students ;-
(i) To acquire knowledge and understanding of the Basic Principles of Nursing.
{ii) To develop skills in nursing techniques in order to practice comprehensive nursing
care.
(ill) To understand current health problems of our country and practice Nursing at Highest
possible' level accordingly within the resources available keeping in the priorities.
(iv) To develop professionally through motivation for continuing education,
(v) To develop ability to take up responsibility in every field of life.
(vi) To learn to co-operate with the fellow students and others, thereby developing a good
interpersonal relationship.
(vii) To acquire knowledge and understanding of work in the hospital and in the community.
(viii) To develop ability to give health education in the hospitals as in the community.
(ix) To acquire knowledge and understanding of International code of Nursing Ethics and
act accordingly.
(x) To learn to lead a well disciplined life.
3. THE COURSE OF TRAINING :-
The General Nursing course covers a complete period of three and half years with
English as a medium of instruction. Students are given practical training in the
various departments of Hospitals and Theoretical Training in the classrooms.
4. ADMISSION REQUISITES :-
(i) Candidates should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent, preferably with Science subjects
with aggregate 40% marks from a recognized university/Board
(ii) Candidate should be an unmarried female or male.
(Hi) Age should be between 17 Yrs. to 35 Yrs. as on 30th September.
(iv) Admission of students shall be once in a Year.
(v) Students should be medically fit.
(vi) Application should bo submitted to the Principal of Phoenix the global Institute of
Nursing with :—
Photocopy of marks obtained in the above said examination.
f) A conduct certificate should be obtained from the head of the Institute last attended. (g) One self-addressed envelope bearing Rs.6/- stamps.
5. PRELIMINARY TRAINING :-
Initially students are admitted to the preliminary training course, duration of which is three months. At the end of this period examination is held. Students getting less than 50% marks in aggregate will not be admitted to the regular course.
6. INTERNAL EXAMINATION :-
Internal examination both in theory and practical will be held every month to assess the progress of students to appear in all these examination. The internal assessment of students which is required for final examination is based on these examinations. It is compulsory for the students to pass in the internal examination.
7. PUNJAB NURSES REGISTRATION COUNCIL EXAMINATION :-
Examination of Punjab Nurses Council is held normally in the month of September every
year. A minimum of 50% marks arc required in each subject to get through.

(t) Medical Surgical Nursing (Including Pharmacology) (ii) Medical Surgical II (Specialities) (iii) Mental Health Nursing (iv) Pediatric Nursing (v) Complete Education
III. THIRD YEAR :-
(i) Midwifery
(ii) Community Heath Nursing II.
